Nursery

Things have been quiet around the blog lately. This little baby has grown quite a bit and will be full term on Tuesday. We still don't know if it is a little boy or girl, but can't wait to find out on his/her birthday. 

The past few months have been a whirlwind of house projects for me. The nursery is finally complete after months of details. I have been preparing the rest of the house for our family members that are generous enough to come stay with us in July. There always seems like there is so much more to do, but I think things are starting to settle as the date nears.

I hope the spring has been lovely to you and yours, and that summer is even kinder. :)

Two weeks ago, our house was visited by an orphaned kitten looking for warmth and food. The days were quite cold at the time and my pregnant self could not resist helping such a small creature. Needless to say, we currently have another addition to our family, Selina. And for those of you counting, the cats now out number the people (until baby J gets here). She spends the days outside and the nights inside her own room. The other cats are trying to slowly acclimate to her presence. In time I think things will work out well.

24 Weeks

Baby's size: Over a pound and a foot long.

Sleep: I sleep a lot more now. I always wake up at least once and sometimes it's hard to get back to sleep. Things in the sleep department have been improving this week though!

Maternity Clothes: I have some pants, but I still wear my normal jeans. Unless I just ate a big meal. I am waiting for warmer weather for stretchy skirts and dresses.

Food cravings: I am trying to keep things healthy. That being said, I love sweets {dark chocolate, ice cream}! A First Watch blueberry pancake and a side of potatoes is my current favorite meal.

Food aversions: Canned tuna, but I have always hated that.

Symptoms I have: Really bad round ligament pain. Other than that, I consider myself really lucky to have things so easy.

Doctor’s Appointment: Last week with a heart beat of 150-160.

Movement: It has really picked up these past few days. The movements are much more dramatic, too.

Gender: It is a mystery!

What I miss: Fitting into normal clothes.

What I’m looking forward to: The ultrasound in a month as well as our first beach trip.

22 Weeks

22 Weeks

You are growing so much these days. This week you will weigh an entire pound. You've grown so big now that people give me a friendly smile to acknowledge your presence. I have started to get used to your daily patterns. You sleep all morning and kick up a storm in the afternoon. I think you are like me and will be a night owl.
Though we have a long {but yet short!} time to go, we are putting your room together. We are the prepared kind of people, hope you don't mind. Your space is quickly filling up and the drawers even have your clothes already in them. I still have a long list of things to make for your arrival, so I hope we have the energy to get to work!

I am starting to really enjoy this journey and each day seems like a fresh new experience.

{1&2} The most frustrating piece of furniture I've ever had to build.
{3} Somewhat filled dollhouse.
{4} Tiny dining.
{5} Checking out the new curtains.
{6} Spring flowers in our yard.
{7} Making room on the bookshelves.

Our house has been disassembled lately. We have been making room for baby and moving furniture around the entire house. I have been practicing my skill with furniture building and getting really annoyed with those tiny allen wrenches.

Spring is approaching and the weather is getting slightly warmer. I am counting the days until I can go back to the beach. I have missed it so.

Dear Baby

I wrote this over a year ago, before we started trying.

I have wanted you for a really long time now. Not sure when the day will come, but I know that I loved you before you even existed. Like there is a bond that has already formed.

Maybe you are a part of my soul and one day your soul will merge with the part that is inside of your father.

I hope that you are like him. 

He is kind and gracious. His love knows no boundaries and he will give everything he has to make sure you are happy. The same way he does for me.

Never in a million lifetimes did I think I could ever meet someone so great, let alone spend the rest of my life with him. I am beyond lucky, someone or something must be looking out for me, for us.

It will be some time before we get to meet, but until then, know that you are loved. You will always have us.
We may not have much, more than enough though. Our house may still be missing furniture, but it will never be missing love.

You will always be loved.

Expecting

A lot has happened to us over here the past few months. We have high hopes for a great year as we prepare our lives to be changed forever.

Dear husband + I are expecting our first addition to our little family this July! We are waiting patiently + slowly making the necessary transitions.

We couldn't be any happier. :)
